TikTok rolls out 3min Videos
A New TikTok video feature gives you the option to have ’15 seconds’, ’60 seconds or ‘3m’ minutes to TikTok to your hart is content. In December 2020 users were selected for testing…. some got the notification “You have early access to uploading videos up to 3 minutes long on the TikTok app and desktop! As a result of the testing it was a hit…you can now shoot for 15 seconds 60 seconds
New 3 Minute Videos
3 Minute TikTok videos are available as a result of months of testing with a small group of creators,. As from today some users can now have the option to create a range of videos with different time lengths. when you open the app and you’ll notice you can now shoot for 15 seconds 60 seconds or three minutes tick tock said the rollout will take a few weeks so if you haven’t got it just yet chill… you will and as soon as its your turn, you’ll get the notification . Tick tock agreed to roll out the feature after lots of feedback from its creator community which gives users more freedom and how they create.
Could this be the end to the follow for part two call out?
Users of the platform know all too well the follow for part two video. Which always felt like an obligation.
With the introduction of the three minute video, the “like and follow for part two,” is a thing of the past.
When you think about it, it’s the same time it would take you to do an elevator pitch. Which will play into the next phase of TikTok which will offer more commercial opportunities.
The fact is TikTok’s strength is the short form offering to the younger generation. And all the special features which came into good effect during the Euros. With the hash tag football going from 70 billion to 130 billion in 4 months. While 3 mins is a nice to have ….retention is king on TikTok if you do start using the 3 mins, make sure content is king… otherwise if you don’t hook your viewers attention it will have a negative effect.
The 3 minute format will still enable you to use all the creative tools and features like stitch duet green screen, and of course, sounds You have the option of either filming and editing the video outside of the TikTok app, and then load it up to your profile. Or, you can film a 3 minute video directly in the app.
How to Use the 3 minute Feature
- See image above…Once you’re on the camera screen.
- You’ll be able to select either ’15s’, ’60s’ or ‘3m’ from a swipe across menu. This is just above the big red record button.
- Swipe along to the 3 minute option.
- The camera will let you record up to 3 minutes of footage within the app itself.
Fact is TikTok is now also attracting an older generation…. So go make some TikTok people…. BUT REMEMBER CONTENT IS STILL KING
